Who remembers when Navy hospital ships USNS Comfort and Mercy were sailing to New York and Los Angeles, respectively, to help with the coronavirus pandemic (their main hospitals were being overwhelmed with COVID-19 cases; they were running out of beds and respirators and there was great panic)? Retired health workers were urged to go back to work, and medical students were given permission to work in hospitals. However, health workers were afraid to go to work because there was a shortage of personal protective equipment, and many got infected and died. I prayed to God for all of them for many days. He took pity on them and He sent His servant to heal their sick and bless the ones who were not sick to protect them. And they responded by redirecting their resources ($1 billion of Cares Act money meant “to prevent, prepare for, and respond to coronavirus”) to continue doing what they do best: making weapons to kill more people. The pandemic is not over yet. They should focus all their efforts on defeating the coronavirus and alleviating the suffering of so many people who have been left in misery and have to fend for themselves.
